	About Us Our Mission Our History Why Pop-Warner Our Mission It is the belief of our members that team sports instill many positive virtues to boys and girls that last throughout their lives. The Palisades Pirates Youth Football Association will require personal effort in the game of football and cheerleading for the team as a whole. In turn, it is the responsibility of the organization to instill knowledge and understanding of competition in the context of fair play. Individual goals will be met through the guidance of this organization by active participation in sports with other children to enhance social skills, promote physical fitness and to provide the opportunity for achievement of measurable yet realistic objectives. It is our desire as parents, coaches and teachers that all participants have a firm understanding of team spirit, sportsman like conduct, and respect for one another with the underlying objective of giving our children the opportunity to enjoy being a child. Back to top --------------------------------------------------------------------- Our History Back to top --------------------------------------------------------------------- Why Pop-Warner POP WARNER football is a nationally run organization that is the oldest youth football/cheer in the U.S. POP WARNER requires all coaches and administrators to have a yearly background check done. Additionally, all coaches are required to be certified by Pop Warner standards. This includes the availability of national and local clinics and with a continuing education program that Pop Warner updates annually. POP WARNER has Weight/Age guidelines are in place to fairly set up teams. This insures that the playing field is safe and also evenly matched so that children can learn about the game and gain confidence in themselves. Most other organizations have an age OR weight requirement. This allows much greater variances in talent levels. In Pop Warner they have to be a particular age and no more than a specific weight. This makes it such that there will be only an age group of only 2 years variance between the children. POP WARNER demands that every child gets mandatory playing time. More playing time equates to more fun for the children. There are no try outs with Pop Warner every child that signs up will be on a team and also get playing time. In this league we offer a ten game schedule for all tackle level teams along with the possibilities of additional bowl games across the region. The cheer squads also get to compete against other cheers squads throughout the year. POP WARNER offers at the competitive age levels (10 years and older) a national playoff system for cheer and football that culminates in Disney World for a national crown. POP WARNER offers a CHALLENGER PROGRAM that allows challenged children (physically and mentally) to also get to play and cheer with each other. POP WARNER requires scholastic standards before playing and offers some scholarships recognizing its top scholars. Every year these athletes are also recognized on a national level with national gatherings at places that vary from year to year. Back to top
